Week 3: Photos & Images - Thing 6 & 7

Thing 6 = Flickr mashups: I explored Flickeur which is a cool mash-up tool. Flickeur creates a film by merging randomly retrieved Flickr images into a stream which "can vary between stream-of-consciousness, documentary or video clip". This is very interesting as you can barely identify any photos but this mashup had a film-noir feel to it. I do not have time to explore all of the mash-ups and/or third party tools but I know where they are and am more familiar with the mash-up concept.

Thing 7 = Post anything technology related. I really am trying to learn how to play with my photos and do cool stuff. I want to figure out how to get all of my photos from various places into one spot and then copied to a flash drive. I think a flash drive with just photos on it would work. This takes the idea of traditional photo albums to a whole new level. Especially in the case of fire, it is a comfort to know that ones photos are preserved online.

Week 2: Blogging - Thing 3 & 4

Thing 3 = I set up my blog and added my first post! Wow! Watch out! RG staff has 13 (soon to be 14) bloggers! We only have 4 more staff to go. We have generated much excitement through learning 2.0 and we are committed to helping each other learn as much as possible. I am extremely proud of all we have accomplished today in such a short amount of time. Way to go Rose Garden Branch Library! Blog on.

Thing 4 = I almost forgot to do this. I was already working on my profile and playing with the look of my blog. Now I am registered.

Week 1: Introduction - Thing 1 & Thing 2

Thing 1 = I am going back and responding to each specific thing we need to do. So I have read about blogging and this program and I am happy to be given the chance to learn this stuff. This was a little hard to get used to at first but now it is making more sense.

Thing 2 = I really enjoyed the lifelong learning powerpoint presentation. I would have to say that the easiest habit of a highly successful lifelong learner for me is habit #2: accepting responsibility for your own learning. I have always enjoyed learning new things. The hardest habit for me is habit#5: Create your own learning toolbox. I usually acquire a learning toolbox through work and school. But now I am working on expanding that toolbox. I have many new electronic toys that I have no idea how to use. I will have to make time to play with them in order to become more technologically savvy!
